Some people argue that top-level managers are paid substantial salaries due to their roles and positions, while others think it is inappropriate for executives to earn enormous money per year. Personally, I am convinced that the high salaries of senior-level executives are justified.
People who claim that top executive salaries are far too high have their convincing reasons. Firstly, salaries should be determined primarily based on the number of working hours or the volume of sweat produced. In other words, it is impossible for top-tier managers to work much longer or harder than regular employees. Besides, directors should not be the only ones rewarded for the success of the company. It is probably because ordinary workers execute the main job while directors are marginally relative to the critical driving force behind product development. Taking an example in the IT industry, people in executive positions sit all day having meetings while programmers are required to do abundant work for the business to thrive.
On the other hand, high earnings are usually a reward for important ideas and responsibilities. It is no doubt decisions made by the higher executives always determine the fate and development of the company. When any working steps turn into a failure, it is the top executives who undertake more significant responsibilities, ranging from setting effective strategies to motivating employees. Besides, a high level of salary attracts qualified candidates and creates healthy competitions, stimulating qualified labourers to apply for specific managements. In this way, large companies would reserve more skilled managers and exert their full potential to make huge profits.
In conclusion, I believe that senior executives deserve their exorbitant salaries because they invest influential decisions and bear higher responsibility. Above all, high salaries are an incentive for talented people to make efforts and contribute more to the company.
